Sheriff Felici registers with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission

It's official!  Rick registered with the PDC early, on January 16th, as he had already decided during the last election term that he wanted to dedicate two terms to the people of Island County.

Rick "aims" to get the word out

Sheriff Felici met with citizens at the Central Whidbey Sportsman's Association on June 25th to discuss his campaign and vision for Island County.  It was a great conversation and the questions and comments were definitely on target.

Sheriff Felici begins in earnest!

Rick had his first campaign meeting to discuss key points of his bid for re-election.  At the top of the discussion was the fact that every promise made in 2018 has been met or significant steps have been made and they are close to being completed.  Rick is also fielding numerous requests for speaking engagements, and is in the process of setting up a campaign calendar that doesn't interfere with his busy work calendar.

Use the tools above to contact Rick about getting on the calendar soon!

Sheriff Felici's first meet-n-greet

Rick meet with constituents at the Oak Harbor Elk's Lodge on Friday July 1st to talk about his platform, what he had accomplished in the past 3.5 years, and what his plans were for the next four years.  Afterward, there was public commentary and questions for Rick, such as issues with the homeless and how he envisions this upcoming term with Washington law changes.  He appreciated everyone's input and curiosity and is looking forward to his next event!

Oak Harbor's 4th of July Parade

Supporters and friends got together to walk in the parade with Rick and his campaign float, handed out candy and greeted community members with handshakes and sometimes hilarity as they occasionally held up the "march" of progress.  Rick is already planning on bringing more candy for the next event and can't wait to see more community members.

Camano Island checks out Sheriff Felici

The meet & greet at the Camano Island Library was fantastic!  Rick was first assigned to Camano Island when he was a deputy, and it will always hold a special place in his heart.

Major Endorsements keep coming

The Mainstream Republicans of Washington have endorsed Rick as their pick for Island County Sheriff!  The Mainstream Republicans support a moderate group within the Republican Party and was founded more than 40 years ago.  Thank you!

Ice Cream Social planned at Coupeville's Masonic Lodge

An Ice Cream Social with games for kids is planned for July 31, so mark your calendars!  Free ice cream will be scooped for those who want, with the frozen treat donated by Kapaw's Iskreme.  This is an opportunity to relax, cool off now that summer temperatures are hitting the Pacific Northwest, and meet Rick in a casual and fun setting in Coupeville.

Butterfly to the Fair 2022, See You There!

Rick and the gang will be at the Whidbey Island Fair on Saturday 7/30 handing out candy and smiles, we hope to see you there.  We'll be hanging around afterward to see the sights and smell the smells, so if you don't see us at the parade, look for telltale bright yellow shirts walking around the Fair!

Thank you, and a look to the Future

The campaign is over, the votes have been counted and the election certified. I am genuinely honored to have earned your trust to serve another term as your Sheriff.

I couldn’t have accomplished this goal without your support. Countless people volunteered their time, money, and labor to help me make this happen. “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough, but I am sincerely thankful for all of you!

I would also like to share a special “thanks” to the members of the ICSO team. An election for Sheriff always creates anxiety within the office and it is especially difficult when the campaign is between two team members. The men and women of your Sheriff’s Office maintained an extremely professional perspective through it all and I am grateful for their maturity and professionalism.

When I was first elected in 2018, I told you that my goal was to build upon the foundation set by my predecessors to create a better public safety agency. I vowed to create greater accountability, to increase staffing, and to increase training. Any of those goals would require a great deal of effort to stay within state law, contract boundaries, and still have the support of the line staff who work so diligently for the community.

Despite a worldwide pandemic, an unprecedented cultural shift related to criminal justice reform, and a questionable economy, we built an amazing team of leaders and trainers and did in fact reach many of those goals. This job will never be done as the profession requires continuous improvement, but I am extremely proud of the things this team has accomplished so far. I am confident that we will meet the challenges that lie ahead with the same competence and enthusiasm.

Recruiting and retention will continue to be our priority. We have several vacant positions due retirements, military transfers, and team members who have made the choice to leave law enforcement for a variety of reasons. I ask for your patience and support as we work through our current staffing shortage. If you are interested in working in a rewarding profession, with a great team and in an amazing community, WE ARE HIRING!

While I will be shutting down my campaign related social media in a few days, please know that you can always reach me through the Sheriff’s Office by phone, email and our ICSO Facebook page.

During the next four years the Island County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide exceptional Service, Professionalism, and Accountability to our community. I am honored to have this opportunity to continue to serve Island County. I am always open to talk or meet in person to discuss your concerns or just get to know each other.

Thank you again for your confidence and support,

Sheriff Rick Felici
