RELEVANT EDUCATION AND TRAINING
My life and professional experience have uniquely prepared me for this position. I have been working in the criminal justice system since 1988. I began my career as a US Navy security policeman while stationed at NAS Whidbey Island. In this position I provided general police services to the culturally diverse community of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
While in this position, I gained experience in general police operations, tactical team and K9 operations and I served as a watch commander and training officer. I also completed the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission Reserve Officer Academy and volunteered as a reserve police officer with the Oak Harbor Police Department during this time period.
I have experience and training in the corrections field as well having completed the New York State Corrections Officer Academy while I was employed by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department in New York state. While I only worked in this position for a little over a year, I developed a solid understanding of corrections and the county jail environment.
I have taken advantage of many training opportunities throughout my career. As my career progressed, I began to focus on leadership and management related training. I am a graduate of:
-
The Northwest Command College
-
The International Association of Chiefs of Police Legacy Leadership program
-
The FBI LEEDA Executive Level Management Program
-
Executive Level Certification in Leadership from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission
